Fishing for change

Forster is helping Loch Fyne Restaurants' customers try new kinds of fish in a bid to promote more sustainable consumption of seafood.

The Alternatives Range, launched today, will include specially created new dishes featuring lesser known fish like Pollack, Whiting and Red Gurnard.

Forster have been working with Loch Fyne to promote the Alternatives Range in an effort to ease pressure on fish stocks, which are dangerously strained for the most popular fish; cod, salmon, haddock, prawns and tuna.  The range will be rolled out in Loch Fyne Restaurants across the UK from 1st August.

By engaging the public to be bit more adventurous in their purchasing through the restaurants, and channeling the message about sustainable fishing through the media, the campaign hopes to raise awareness of the pressure on fish stocks and create shift in the way we buy and eat fish.

As well as serving the Alternatives Range in their restaurants, Loch Fyne are helping fish lovers who want to have a go at cooking different kinds of fish by posting recipe ideas on their website www.lochfyne.com
