GOJO gets disabled young people on the move
This summer, Forster launched GOJO - a new campaign to help young disabled people to get the best out of public transport.
The innovative campaign is being delivered through online media including MySpace and YouTube and its own interactive website Gojo.
GOJO will run in five English cities – Sheffield, Newcastle, Nottingham, Manchester and Exeter, with the message spreading to surrounding regions. Forster has worked with youth disability groups to produce information packs for local transport staff, advising them on how to support disabled young people on their public transport journeys.
The campaign is funded by the Disability Rights Commission (DRC) in the wake of changes to the Disability Discrimination Act, which gives disabled people new rights to fair treatment on public transport. Recent research by the DRC showed that twice as many young disabled people lack confidence using public transport when compared to their non disabled peers.
