Our work with pharmaceutical company Astellas EMEA on its Changing Tomorrow Day programme received recognition at the annual Corporate Engagement Awards in October, picking up a silver award for ‘Best Community Involvement During a CSR Programme’.

Changing Tomorrow Day is an annual employee volunteering which give Astellas employees the opportunity to provide a day’s volunteering and, through doing so, help vulnerable people in their local communities to lead healthy, happy lives.

Foster worked at a strategic level with the European communications team to develop and deliver key initiatives and lead on developing the Changing Tomorrow Day volunteering strategy, organising and providing volunteering opportunities for all UK office-based staff.

Since its launch in 2010, the programme has donated over 13,000 volunteering hours to help children and vulnerable people across the EMEA region, and grown year-on-year with 2013 seeing a record number of employees volunteering.

Crucial to its success are strong partnerships, with 75% of the participating community groups last year reporting that the volunteering has made a significant difference to their organisations.

Other key impacts form 2013 include 100% of charities involved saying that they were happy with the volunteering provided and 98% of employees agreeing that Astellas is a better place to work as a result of the volunteering programme.
